Dallas Firefighter William Scott Tanksley, 40, Died in the Line of Duty last night while operating on an icy overpass in Dallas, Texas. Tanksley was a 14 year veteran of the department. He leaves behind a wife and three children between the ages 4-12. Tanksley was stationed at firehouse #12.
It is unclear whether he slipped ice or was forced over the edge from other vehicles. Reports say he fell about 30 feet.
This is exactly what I am talking about when I say we are cut from the same cloth. We have all been to motor vehicle accidents hundreds of times. Never do we think that we can killed. I mean, its something that might also be in the back of our mind, but I think we don’t look at car wrecks in that light.
It’s so sad. I myself will be soon turning 40, 13 years on the job and 3 kids. RIP FF Tanksley.
