Well tomorrow I turn the big 4- 0. Yep, tomorrow is the 10th Anniversary of my 30th Birthday. I am not back to duty until Monday, but I will probably bring in some cake.
Isn’t the funny thing about the fire service? I mean, where else on your birthday you have to bring your own cake in? Shouldn’t someone bring you a cake? Another tradition we do is anyone with less than 1 year on the job sings Happy Birthday. What better way to make a rookie uncomfortable than to have them sing in front of everyone.
When I was a rookie one of our drivers was turning 50. Because of that he had his whole family there! So I had to sing to him in front of family and all the guys on shift that day. And our Central station usually between and 9 and 11 firefighters. So Happy Birthday to anyone who is celebrating out there!
